The test reports which ANCA pattern, if any, is present: C-ANCA, linked to proteinase-3, or P-ANCA, linked mainly to myeloperoxidase. Quest notes that patients with vascular disease generally show a C-ANCA or P-ANCA pattern with a positive PR-3 or MPO result, patients with bowel disease may show either pattern without necessarily targeting MPO, and drug-induced lupus often presents a P-ANCA pattern associated with anti-MPO antibodies.
